I want to create a classroom where students feel like they belong, where they are safe to learn as they learn and not be afraid to express themselves. I also want to help them understand that dance is for everyone regardless of a dancer's goals, anatomy, or ability.
I have had the privilege, through my degree at OKCU, to take Tap, Jazz, and Ballet Pedagogy classes as well as Dance History and Anatomy. I want to cultivate an environment of learning where students learn about their bodies and how they move, where the dance they love so much came from, and how to keep their body's safe and dancing for as long as possible.
I believe that dance is a vessel through which artists can tell stories. Whether the stories be about personal struggles, thoughts on the world around us, or just for fun, dance tells stories. Through my choreography, I want to inspire students to feel free and safe ti express whatever they are feeling through their movement. From an audience perspective, I want my pieces to clearly convey stories that will make audiences laugh, cry, think and feel.
